A major transportation study for U.S. 192 will begin in a few months. Osceola County and LYNX, the regional public transit provider, were awarded a grant by the Federal Transit Administration to look at increasing transit options along U.S. 192. Currently, LYNX operates regular fixed-route buses in this area. U.S. 192 is used by tourists, workers and residents, and is the only major east-west corridor in the county. Traffic in future years is expected to increase.

The study, called an Alternatives Analysis, will gather input from users of the LYNX system and business owners along U.S. 192 to see what options the community would prefer to move more people without adding lanes. The options will then be evaluated based in part on increased ridership potential and financial feasibility. This study will have ample opportunity for public input. Information on whom to contact and where to find information on the Internet will be provided in this newsletter in the coming months.
