April 2004 – West 192 Project Coordinator awarded "Employee of the Month".

December 2004 – West 192 Redevelopment District receives "America’s Crown Communities Award" from American City & County News Magazine. For more information read article.

June 2005 – West 192 Redevelopment District’s marketing group MPB Communications receives the "Judges Award" for the District's quarterly news letter.

December 2006 – West 192 Redevelopment District’s Asset Management group VMS, Inc. (Virginia Maintenance Systems, Inc.) receives award from the Florida/United Safety Council.

Awards Recently Applied For

"Innovations in Government Award" sponsored by the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Top five finalist will receive $100,000.

"Better Government Award" sponsored by The Pioneer Institute for Public Policy Research. First place will receive $10,000 with finalist each receiving $1,000.

Grants

With the help of our Extension Services Office and our Grants Office the West 192 Redevelopment District received an $82,000 grant through the Department of Forestry to help replace trees damaged or destroyed during the devastating hurricanes of 2004. Without this grant the tax payers of this District would have been left with the burden of paying 100% of the cost to replace those same trees.
